FAQ
Do you have a question for us or wonder how we do things? Look through these Frequently Asked Questions, maybe your question will be answered here!
WHAT METHOD DO YOU USE FOR CLEANING?
The method we use for cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning. Mean Green's hot water extraction method removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently. A safe, effective, non-toxic and soap-free solution is applied to the carpet fibers. Then, powerful truck mounted suction extracts deep-down dirt, allergens, cleaning agents and most of the moisture. Truck mounted steam cleaning is the #1 cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers for soil removal.
DO YOU USE A TRUCK MOUNTED MACHINE?
Yes, we use state of the art truck mounted machines with very powerful suction. Hence, we can guarantee our customers maximum soil removal and quick drying carpets.
DO I NEED TO VACUUM BEFORE THE TECHNICIAN ARRIVES?
A light vacuuming in the traffic areas is recommended but not required. If needed, we can pre-vacuum the area to be cleaned.
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER AS AN AREA?
Typically, an area is a room that is up to 200 square feet (that is 10 x 20). Living room/dining room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 200 square feet but less than 500 square feet is priced as two areas.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CLEAN MY CARPETS?
On average, it will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on the amount of furniture to be moved, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments. We make sure to take our time so the job is done right, leaving your flooring or upholstery looking great and our customers 100% satisfied.
DOES CLEANING MY CARPET MAKE IT SOIL FASTER?
One of many problems with soaps and detergents for carpet care is that they leave a soapy, sticky residue, which causes rapid re-soiling and particle loading. This results in quickly re-dirtied carpet and unhealthy indoor air quality.
Mean Green's method of cleaning your carpet is different! We only use professional, soap-free products which leave no oil or dirt-attracting residue found in soaps. We rinse only with pure hot water to leave carpets squeaky clean. In fact, our high velocity extraction method will extract any soap residue that was left behind from previous cleaners.
While soap-free products are extremely important in maintaining clean carpets, the main factor causing rapid re-soiling is the absence of a stain resistant coating, such as Scotchguard, on the carpet fibers. Most, if not all, new carpets leave the factory with a stain and soil resistant coating. Over time, this coating wears off because of general use, abrasive traffic, excessive dirt, and most of all deep cleaning. Every time you clean your carpets you can have Scotchguard reapplied to replenish and enhance your carpets soil-resisting coating to help it look cleaner longer. In fact, some carpet manufacturers require professional reapplication in order to maintain its warranty.
DO YOU GUARANTEE REMOVAL OF ALL SPOTS OR STAINS IN THE CARPET?
We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor the carpet fibers. The age of the carpet and the type of carpet fibers also plays a factor in this. The technician will try to determine if this is the case prior to cleaning but they are not always able to determine this before trying to remove the spots.
HOW DO YOU GUARANTEE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION?
We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise. We will happily come back to fix any problem. In the end, we’re not satisfied until you are.
WHY SHOULD I HAVE A PROTECTOR APPLIED TO MY CLEAN CARPETS?
As the finishing touch to your thoroughly cleaned carpet and/or upholstery, specially formulated protector, such as Scotchguard, can be professionally applied. These products help carpet and upholstery resist soiling from dry dirt, water- and oil-based spills by wrapping each fiber in a protective coating. This extra layer gives you more time to clean up spots and spills before they soak into the fibers, helping you keep your carpet and upholstery looking its best between professional cleanings. Plus, it makes vacuuming and cleaning up spots easier.

DOES CARPET COME WITH A STAIN PROTECTOR?
A dry soil protector comes on most carpet from the manufacturers. This is a wear dated product and is removed over time with everyday traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend that you have this protector reapplied about once a year, and perhaps more often on heavy traffic areas.
HOW DOES YOUR DEODORIZER WORK TO REMOVE ODORS?
Mean Green uses a natural bacterial enzyme action to digest organic odor sources such as vomit, feces, urine, milk, blood, etc. This product removes organic odors that it contacts. It also uses a neutralizer to give immediate relief from any odors while the enzyme is working. The key to complete removal of an odor is that this product must reach all contaminated surfaces. If the odor causing source has penetrated the backing and possibly the padding we cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY CARPETS BE CLEANED?
We recommend it done once a year. This can vary, you might have children, pets, or other circumstances in your home where you might need your carpets cleaned every 6-12 months. To maintain your residential carpet warranty, all the major manufacturers require a minimum of one professional cleaning every 18-24 months. (See your carpet warranty requirements for details.)
Dirt trapped beneath the surface of your carpets can cause it to wear out prematurely. We all bring in contaminants from outside like pollen, tobacco smoke, exhaust and more into our homes. Regularly scheduled professional carpet cleanings can extend your carpets life and keep your family healthy.
CAN'T I CLEAN MY CARPETS MYSELF AND GET THE SAME RESULTS?
If you’re not picky and you’re just looking to get some of the dirt off the surface of your carpet, a rental machine may be all you need. However, if you’re looking to get a thorough cleaning, one that removes all the pollens, bacteria and chemicals we bring in on our hair and on our skin, clothing and shoes, you will need your carpets cleaned with a professional hot water extraction machine.
A rented carpet cleaning machine or one you buy at your local retail store just can’t achieve even close to the same level of clean as our professional equipment. The high level of consistent heat, industrial strength vacuum to remove soil, and high pressure water to get contaminants below the surface just can’t compare.
